Programme profile

Diet, tobacco and lack of physical activity as well as environmental factors like polluted water, poor sanitation and air pollution are the main risk factors for the chronic diseases which will account for more than 60% of global mortality by 2020. The global challenge is to reduce the prevalence of these diseases and the high number of related deaths.

The focus of this programme is on both the local challenges presented by modern diet and nutrition and the grater global challenges, which prepares for both the national and international employment markets. By incorporating both natural sciences and political and social sciences students learn to develop and implement policies and strategies focusing on promoting a healthy lifestyle among citizens on both a national and international level.

All students follow a Foundation Year. From Semester 2 you can choose between two specialisations: Public Health nutrition and Food Policy or Lifestyle Coaching and Fitness Management. Public Health nutrition and Food Policy specialisation deals with how to promote public health nutrition and food policy through implementing comprehensive food and nutrition policies using communication, education and management strategies. The Lifestyle specialisation deals with how to implement lasting improvements in dietary habits, physical activity, weight regulation and other lifestyle factors relevant to health based on a holistic approach.

Required periods of work placement can take place in Denmark or another country.
