Programme profile

This programme (ITESS) is designed to equip students to with the professional skills, knowledge and competences that they need as successful teachers at international secondary schools, in which they will be qualified to teach students in the earlier years of their school education (you will work with learners in the age group between 11 and 16).

During the programme, practical experience in teaching is combined with the study of theoretical concepts and research activities that are relevant for the teaching profession. The programme includes several periods of teaching practice, through English, in international and in local school.

In September 2018, the ITESS programme starts with three subjects: Mathematics, History and German. More specialisations will be added every year.

NHL explains how, at ITESS, they want “to train students who perform exceptionally as teachers, and who are eager to combine their careers with travel and discovery.”

Progression

There are more than 8000 international schools across the world. The pupils/students at international schools have many different nationalities.
