Dalarna University was established in 1977 and today has some?18,000 registered students.?There are two campuses,?one?in Borlange and one in?Falun. The university offer?40 programmes of?study and more than 200 single subject courses?in the following fields: Computer Science and IT; Economics, Society and Tourism; Sport and Health; Culture, Media and Design; Languages; Technology and nature; Education; Health Care, Social Work and Medicine.
Currently it only has one Bachelors programme taught through English, in Tourism. However, it has 1200 international students, most who are from Europe and Asia. Dalarna University has partnerships with universities in most European countries as well as in the U.S., Australia, China and Japan

Dalarna University works closely with two local housing companies..Most of the apartments that these companies rent out are located within a 30-minute walking distance from the campus. Rent is from €200 to €380 per month
